The theme of the paper banks on the utilization of two non-fossil renewable sources of energy of the future viz. biomass and hydrogen for manufacturing a product mix of synfuels and/or chemicals. The underlying concept has been the achievement of 100. INTRODUCTION. carbon and nitrogen efficiencies for the synfuels-chemicals complex which ensures that the energy spent in separating oxygen and nitrogen from the air in the scrubber is recovered at its chemical value by quantitative conversion to area. The Purox process has been selected for conversion of biomass feedstocks to synfuel gas which after shift conversion, and CO2 removal is converted to synfuel oil in a Fischer-Tropsch reactor. Material balances have been given for the conversion of the following biomass feedstocks into synfuel oil : Municipal refuse (wet and dry), bagass (wet and dry), rice hulls, waste cotton and pressed sewage cake. SYNFUEL OIL-UREA COMPLEX IN UNINTEGRATED PLANT. INTEGRATION OF BIOMASS AND HYDROGEN ENERGIES. Product mix of two components. Product mix of three components. CONCLUSIONS. REFERENCES.
