Worldwide, the issues related to oil demand and supply is inextricably connected to ground transportation. Globally,, motor vehicles-powered almost universally by oil-account for a third of world oil consumption. In the OECD countries, they represent over 40 percent of demand and in the United States, over 50 percent.
