Environmental Monitoring of Geothermal Projects in Nicaragua

The environmental monitoring of geothermal projects in Nicaragua is mainly based on field supervision and inspections to verify compliance with conditions stated in environmental permits, in addition to the review of monitoring reports provided by the developers. A review of the environmental impacts of geothermal utilization, the environmental framework and the monitoring process in countries with extensive geothermal development and experience in utilizing geothermal energy was made for comparison purposes with environmental monitoring conducted in Nicaragua.
