This work presents the results of three stages of research performed on energy-eficient electronic ballasts for T8 lamps: (a) laboratory experiments on 1 and 3 configurations, (b)field testingon a building before and after retrofit, and (c) computer simulations of a building, and industrial loads. Some of the results indicate: (1) Vtdh (total harmonic distortion) reduction when magnetic and electronic ballast are combined, (2) estructural current increase or decrease in 3 electronic-ballasts configurations depending upon its type, (3) decrease in Vtdh along the modeled feeder for light-and heavy-loads after retrofit, and a maximum allowable Itdh for an electronic ballast for retrofit.
