In this work a combined cycle is suggested as a method of energy conservation in the power generation plants. The cycle consist of a solar and conventional units. To evaluate the efficiency and investigate the source of losses exergy method (as it reveals the efficiency of work transmission through the plant) is applied to pinpoint the real losses in the cycle. A comparison is made between several forms of the cycle, and energy- exergy analysis is carried out by constructing a flow charts for these forms having the same output power. Further more analysis is made to the solar system to show the effect of ambient temperature and mass flow rate of the working fluid on the second law efficiency and exergy losses for a number of components.
