The solar heating system of the Pernod Solaire comples (1000 m2 under cover) is the most important of this type in Europe. For heating each of the three buildings of this complex (two buildings for spirits production and an administration department) and renewing the internal atmosphere, air is used as the heat transfer fluid. There are three heat sources : solar and electric energy and heat recovery from waste air. An air solar collectors array of 1800 m2 allows the recuperation of the solar energy in association with greenhouses and 600 m3 of storage consisting of solar bricks. The electricity is directly used by Joule effect or with air-to-air heat pumps, or stored in refractory bricks storages when it is cheaper, to be used later. Air-water heat exchangers are used to recover heat from waste air. The management of these different sources is assumed by programmable automatic control units from priority criteria based on energy cost. A part of the solar system and the instrumentation have been supported by the CEC and AFME. The follow-up operation consists of the acquisition of data from the control units (temperature, air flow-rates, humidity, solar radiation, wind velocity, states of apparatus, etc.). From these informations, an analysis shows that air collectors have good performance in regard to their specifications but that their productivity is low because of a low working time. Global performance of the system (electric energy, solar ratio...) are presented for a year of heating.. INTRODUCTION. DESCRIPTION OF THE PLANT. Collectors. Solar storage units. Greenhouses.
