The use of passive solar systems in collective housings has presented some additional problems in desing; these are related to: i) the different energetic needs of each house depending on its position within the whole housing, ii) the posibility of temperature stratification and iii) the design of interior spaces to improve the correct distribution of the convective flows inside the dwelling. Also refrigeration measures have to be considered in a Mediterranean climate during the hot season. We have here analysed theoretically and experimentally the thermal behaviour of a conventional collective building in order to obtain criteria and guidelines of design for its passive sizing.. ABSTRACT. INTRODUCTION. CALCULATION METHOD. Calculation of the energetic needs. Calculation of solar contributions. Estimation of thermic inertia. Great volume phenomena. EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS.
