A new system to simulate time-dependant radiative energy is described. The system has been installed inside an adiabatic room to permit the study of walls in thermal variable state. Both the room and the system are computer monitored with programmes reproducing the location's radiation on any day, orientation and tilt as well as outside temperature. Heat transmission in an actual wall has been studied as an example, with variable temperature and radiation. The main interest of this system is its possibility of being applied to passive solar systems such as Trombe walls, curtain walls, etc.. SUMMARY. FOREWORD. THE PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN.
