After a short historic about Sophocle International experimentation, 1976-1985, this paper presents an exact technical description of the generator and the detail results of almost ten years using this concentrated photovoltaic generator. Precise diagnosis, and electrial and mechanical improvements, have been made since 1981 with second generation systems. By means of a realistic analysis of the system cost, of the real stabilisation of the long time efficiency (8.5. ABSTRACT. ), and of the potential disponibility of increasing efficiency solar cell, (Si, GaAs, multispectrum), the paper concludes in an economical discussion. INTRODUCTION.
