India occupies the third place in area in the production of coconut and coir pint is one of the waste materials obtained in coir processing industries. An extruder has been successfully developed in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University for the production of hollow briquettes from coir pith. Experiments conducted with this briquetting machine has revealed that coir pith mixed with cow dung (binding agent) yielded strong briquettes with good burning properties. ABSTRACT. INTRODUCTION.
