From experimental results obtained with (CO + 2 H2) mixtures under 50 bar on metallic catalyst (Cu - Zn) (1)(2)(3) complete stoechiometric equations were established and also thermal balance of the reaction. Influence of internal and external diffusion was shown. The whole of this study has permitted to define and to realise a reactor with two catalytic successive beds which permit to study the following parameters. -influence of preheating synthesis gases upon carbon monoxide conversion, - evolution of temperature from differents points of catalytic bed; - evolution of several gases concentration out from the reactor. This reactor permits to us in a first step with (CO + 2 H2) mixtures to study the catalyst in adiabatic conditions and to follow desactivation of the catalyst during the time. In a second step to define for our catalyst, optimun conditions for synthesis catalytic reaction of methanol, principally concerning carbon monoxide conversion rate. INTRODUCTION. EXPERIMENTAL PLANT DESIGN AND OPERATION. STARTING OF SYNTHESIS REATION. INFLUENCE OF CARBON DIOXIDE CONCENTRATION IN SYNTHESIS GAS ON CONVERSION RATE. CONCLUSIONS. REFERENCES.
