Mills (1984) and Hattersley (1984) presented economic analysis on the downhole separation of non-condensable gases using the vertical flow centrifugal separator (VFCS). The analysis was based on a hypothetical 50 MWe power plant using Ngawha (New Zeland) geofluids, and made use of the preliminary experimental data on the performance of the VFCS reported by Grant-Taylor and Kanyua (1984a). The present paper comments on some of the technical data and conclusions arrived at by Mills (1984). ABSTRACT. INTRODUCTION. PERFORMANCE OF THE VFCS. LOCATION OF DHS IN THE WELL. CASING PROGRMA AND GASTUBE DIAMETER. LOSS OF GAS LIFT. SOLIDS DEPOSITION. CONCLUSION. REFERENCES.
