The performance of a lamp is considered to be tied with it efficiency, but in a lighting installation a lamp is always used in combination with a luminaire which distributes the light in the space. The interest of the designer is in the working surfaces, which receive only portions of the luminous flux generated by the lamp. The paper analyzes some typical street lighting installations with different types of lamps and luminaires, whose characteristics were measured at IEN. ABSTRACT. INTRODUCTION.
