This brochure is a combined contribution to the 15th session of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (UNCSD-15) from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) – including the Development Co-operation Directorate, the Environment Directorate, the Directorate for Financial and Enterprise Affairs, the Directorate for Science, Technology and Industry, and the Round Table on Sustainable Development – together with the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA). It has been produced under the auspices of the OECD Horizontal Programme on Sustainable Development and reviewed by the OECD Annual Meeting of Sustainable Development Experts (AMSDE). Under the theme of “Energy for Sustainable Development”, this brochure presents policy findings from OECD, IEA and NEA reports relating to energy, climate change and sustainable development. It focuses on four main topics: i) widening energy access in developing countries, ii) increasing energy research and development and dissemination, iii) promoting energy efficiency and diversity, and iv) benefiting from energyrelated climate change policies. The report was prepared with the assistance of John Newman, Energy and Environment Consultant. This report is published on the responsibility of the Secretary-General of the OECD. [Preface]
