This study analyses the municipal solid waste management components at Otavalo, a small city located in Ecuador's highlands. It provides the theoretical framework, and presents different alternatives to implement the most suitable system. Based on the results of the analysis of case study, this project find the feasibility of waste reduction, cicycling, compost and energy recovery through a regional landfil, including the Otavalo district wastes and two other cities of the same region : Ibarra and Atuntaqui.
