Productions of oil from reservoirs with a gas cap causes the interface to advance towards the producer and curve downwards. There is a critical rate of production for the interface to remain stable. Investigation of the effects of various parameters such as production rate, well spacing, thickness of the reservoir and viscosity of oil on the stability of the interface and recovery of oil at breakthrough have been carried out in two Hele-Shaw models at both below and above critical rate.
