The aims of the author's visit to the republic of Panama were : to review the exploration work undertake by the local government and advise on the probability of finding economically viable sources of geothermal energy; if insuffcient data were available on which technically sound judgement could be made, the an exploration programme to obtain the required information was to be formulated.
