This guideline focuses on environmental impact assessment and environmental audits because these are environmental management tools which, when used effectively can result in cost-effective improvement of environmental perfomance. However, effective and efficiente use of these tools requires that the company's purpose in using them be we-defined and that the activities undertaken be focused to these purposes.
