The degradation of groundwater quality by contamination wiht hydrocarbons is recognized as a serious problem. The purpose of this paper is to review the main techniques and desing parameters for in-situ and on-site physical remedation of contaminated groundwater. In addition, the advantages and restrictions of each method with respect to site conditions and contaminant chemistry is examined in the context of selecting the most appropiate method.
