This report draws its inspiration from the current initiative to reinvigorate the agency, and builds upon strategies in four areas that are critical to sustainable development : population and health, economic growth, environment , and democracy. These strategies create a new role for USAID that greatly reinforces U.S. foreign and domestic policy, complements the work of other U.S. Government agencies, collaborates closely with international organizations, national government, universities and non - government organization, and leverages the financial resources of multilateral banks and private sector.
