Environmental protection is a high priority for the petroleum industry in conducting exploration and production activities. Companies are being asked to demostrate their commitment to environmental protection through the adoption of corporate environmental policies and through actual performance in the field. The purpose of this guidelines is to identify the invironmental effects of petroleum operations with respect to deforestation and erosion, and to discuss measures to prevent or mitigate these environmental impacts.
