Electric power interconnection of Latin America Southern cone countries

The electrical systems of Southern Cone countries in the Latin American continent are basically interconnected through binational hydroelectric power plants built for shared use on the frontier rivers that form the Plata River. The purpose of this paper is to examine some outstanding features of the regional integration process, aiming at the economic and social welfare of the countries involved. Efforts are also made to state the bases to increase in the short and medium term regional integration through the expansion of international electric power interconnections.
