Rural electrification and sustainable development in the Bolívar province, Ecuador

2002

76
MTI

The Bolívar province has a considerable deficit in electrical services especially in the rural areas, which cobers more than 50 per ciento of the population. It is an urgent need to solve the dependency from outside sources to provide a reliable, affordable and dependiable quality service. The solar, hydro, wind, hiomass and other sources of alternative energy have not been taken into account in the past as an integrated model to reach sustainable development for this isolated and least development province.
