Renewable energy for rural electrification in Ecuador aplication to remote areas

This paper examines the technical and economical feasibility for using renewable energy sources as an alternative to satisfy the basic electric needs in remote rural areas in Ecuador in order to improve people's lifestyle in those communities. At the same time, the current situation of the electrical sector has been analyzed and complemented with social, environmental and legal issues related to the specific problem.
