It has recently become fashionable for engineers to discuss the importance of focusing on second law efficiency rather than first law efficiency their studies of energy conservation opportunities and in heir design studies of conservation systems. This paper shows that the use of second law efficiency has applicability in some areas of engineering prectice which will undoubtedly lead to improved utilization of our fuel resouces.
