Study of the thermal waters of north - west Tuscany

On the basis of the data provided by chemical and isotopical analyses a study was made of the thermal waters in Tuscany north of the River Arno to define the hydrothermal system with which they are connected. Three main water families were recognized : sodium - chloride, caclium - sulphate and calcium - bicarbonate. Their chemical composition is dependent on the nature of the rocks crossed during circulation.
