The exploration activity in Nicaragua started in 1930 when a well was drilled close to San Cayetano village, located right at Citalapa river, based on an oil seep occurrence and surface geology control. This well was abandoned as a dry well. In the same area, few years later, two more wells were drilled (San Rafael - 1 and California - 1).No information is available from these wells.
