Heretofore, well logs have been used mostly for corrrelation, structural mapping and quantitative evaluation of hydrocarbon bearing formation. The present series of discussion topics proposes to use well logs to their fullest extent for geological studies sedimentation, fluid migration,tectonic deformation etc by deriving from logs all sorts of mapping parameters and indices of significance from the point of view of mineral accumulations primarily in sediments.
