Proyecto de Graduación (Licenciatura en Ingeniería en Construcción) Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, Escuela de Ingeniería en Construcción, 2017.

The present project consists in the creation of designs related to the area of road engineering, to be used mainly by the municipal regime in the neighboring roads of its competence. The main objective of the guide is to define a series of designs and technical recommendations in the areas of: Drainage: Designs and calculation tool are presented for surface drainage (culverts, gutters) and sub-surface drains (sub drains, filters). Transit: Three traffic volumes were defined to calculate the equivalent design axes. Subgrade: A matrix and a flowchart of evaluation and characterization of the properties of several types of subgrade that can be found in the field were generated, as well as the respective recommendations to be taken into account to treat each one of them. Pavements type designs: Thickness packages are presented for 6 different pavement structures designed by the AASHTO 1993 method, as well as the tool and calculation memories of these thicknesses. Finally, a tool was created to control the various design premises in which real measurement values are introduced in order to compare and generate real and non-theoretical databases.
