Plan de evaluación y urgencia de intervención a estructuras de acero de soporte y pasarelas de acceso en una Planta Productora de Agregados aplicando la metodología simplificada mediante el Índice de Daño Estructural

The objective of this project was to carry out an assessment of the support structures and access walkways (both of them made out of steel), of 13 conveyors of the secondary plant inside the main plant of aggregates located in Guápiles, following 2 factors: diagnosis and urgency of intervention. The evaluation was divided into three stages, the first inspection where the characteristics of 2 models were collected: the original representing the ideal condition (starting point) and the one in the field; The other 2 phases focus on obtaining the Structural Damage Index (SDI), which combines the Corrosion Index (CI) and the Structural Index (SI), the first represents the diagnosis and the second represents the urgency of intervention It was determined that corrosion is the main problem in the plant, being the aggressiveness of the environment and the accumulations of waste material, the main responsible agents. Access gateways with higher IC are HGU2.421-BT7, HGU2.421-BT8, HGU2.421-BT10-A and HGU2.421-BT10-B; While the conveyors with the highest IDE are HGU2.421-BT2 and HGU2.421-BT13. Periodic cleaning of the plant is recommended to eliminate material residues, as well as the detailed evaluation of the plant, starting with the conveyors with the highest IDE.
