This project was developed at Ingenio Hacienda Juan Viñas, located in Juan Viñas, Carthage, consisted of investigating materials and coatings in the grinding maces. The objective of the study was to analyze the use of new materials and / or coatings in the maces used in sugarcane milling. In the analysis of the current situation It was be determined an inconsistency in of the type of raw material they use, the maces and coating used are not compatible to be welded and do not use suitable welding techniques. The proposed solutions consist are to determine that the supply material is gray cast iron and nodular cast iron; in the case of continue with castings, perform a surface recharge before applying coatings and use welding and coating suitable for each type of material.
