Project Management for ERP software implementations, require important efforts on resources, coordination and process organization. Experience plays a big role, as well as the technical knowledge to accomplish the implementation activities. However, having a methodological framework, offers a support guide for project management, facilitating every process involved. A bad project management can lead to highly negative consequences to the organization and its customers. Especially in times where competition is increasing in a global market. This is one of the reasons why companies are adopting project management methodologies to potentiate resources, maximize profits, and obtain better results. This investigation proposes improvements to the methodology for project management implemented in Alfa People. Specifically for ERP software project implementations. To accomplish this, the first step was to perform a diagnosis of the current situation, to observe strong and weak points within the company regarding project management. Deficiencies were detected in quality and risk management areas, and also in performance metrics. On the other hand, Human Resources obtained better results. The methodology proposed is based mainly in the best practices promoted by the PMI, in order to offer a standardization of the processes. The methodology includes a project lifecycle define by six stages: Initialization, Planning and Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Operation. In addition, it has ten areas of knowledge with its corresponding defined processes, in order to provide a methodological management appropriate according to the project type. Finally, this investigation describes an implementation strategy about the proposed improvements to the methodology; in order to facilitate the change management that must occurred within the company.
