At present, the high quality standards and the competition in the market, have generated that
world-wide companies keep finding ways for the reduce of production´s costs, without harming
the quality of the product, avoiding at all costs, unexpected issues that affect the client’s service.
With the growth of the market, the machinery has been forced to carry a high performance
guarantee, in addition to its availability and reliability. Here is where good maintenance
management becomes an investment, to guarantee zero unforeseen and achieve the
objectives of the company.
Explotec is the Central American leader in the development of explosives, which has had an
exponential growth in the national and international market, so that it seeks its continuous
improvement to achieve the needs of its customers. For this reason, in this document, a
Maintenance Management Model was performed for the company. Where it is possible to
integrate the maintenance to the organization, through the creation of the maintenance
department and a proposal of organizational change of itself.
As part of the management model, an analysis of the modes of effects and failures (AMEF)
was developed to guarantee the safety required in the production process, due to the careful
handling of the explosive products. This safety should be considered paramount in all areas of
the company and maintenance is no exception.
Through the AMEF, there are analyzed all the possibilities that can be presented in the
productive line and the application of the standard SAE J 1739 for the evaluation of the criticality
of the results, they determine the plans of preventive maintenance, the datasheets, the
periodical inspections, the staff required for the maintenance department and improvements in
the design of the productive line where the results were obtained with the mayor criticality.
A plan of 5 S is carried out in the maintenance tools warehouses and the maintenance
consumables warehouse, within the deliverables to the company, with respect to this subject,
a standardization and a format for the control of inputs and outputs were proposed. wineries

It was found that, with some improvements in certain productive line systems, significant
savings were achieved with a recovery time less than two years. As with the implementation of
maintenance plan, representative savings are generated for the company's economy.
