This project was carried out at the company IKOR Puntarenas S.A., located in the Zona Franca in the area of Puntarenas, Costa Rica. The work consisted in making a proposal of improvement to optimize the area of ring manufacturing of the company. The objective of the study was to propose an improvement to the welding process to obtain a welded joint, free of pores, cracks, burrs, excessive concavities and a better union appearance. In the analysis of the current welding process, it was found that the lack of protection in the joint causes ignition of corrosion in saline environments, the high current used to weld causes a narrowing of the joint and, finally, water causes embrittlement of the weld.
