The shortage of drinking water in the province of Guanacaste becomes increasingly a priority the development of various types of projects, measures, and any considerations that will help avoid wasting this resource. In previous years there have been cases of large number of cattle that died for lack of water, a clear example of the situation in the province with respect to the mentioned resource; and if this is added that lots of drinking water is obtained from fresh water wells, which currently there have been cases that have dried completely. The importance of this resource lies in the fact that practically most of the activities of humans depend on water and this is intensified in the activities of a hotel of great quality as is Club & Hotel CONDOVAC La Costa characterized by excellent services they provide to guests and visitors. For these reasons, the development of this project takes a great importance , both environmentally avoiding waste of water when the pumps continue to work even when the tanks are full, as technical and development level, the fact that the hotel has automated the pumping system of drinking water that supplies all the needs of the hotel is a great advantage for the maintenance department, and that having this system ensures the availability of drinking water and besides this a burden for this department removed the not having to be aware of the levels of water tanks. The project proposes a design automation for the pumping system of the hotel, using technology called telemetry to control the operation of pumps with 2 PLC Siemens S7-1200 series and 2 communication modules CP 1242-7 also Siemens brand. To do this it must implement a program covering all the different conditions that may occur with water levels that should be placed in tanks of drinking water. Telemetry comes to solve the adverse conditions found on site to control the operation of pumps, that they are not located near the hotel, are 4 km away, where the deep well was constructed for water intake drinking, so the inputs and outputs to be connected to the PLC are not all in the same place so the exchange of signals between PLCs is necessary and for this communication modules are needed. Another aspect that was addressed in the project was to control leaks in pipes that connect water tanks with gauges electronic pressure sensors connected to the PLC and program design is notified when a high pressure differential caused by a leak in a section of the pipe; besides gauges installed along the most critical for earlier detection of the leak portion, since the pipes are buried so finding the leak is complicated in most cases.
