Since ABC Group SA foundation, its sales have been growing at a manageable rate. By
to 2014, it was decided to make a strong incursion into electromechanical projects, mainly for
industrial manufacturing costumers. From 2013 to 2014 sales increased 400 %, initially its sales
was to ₵ 220MM and then to ₵900MM.
While the increase is too positive and its expectations to grown in the next three years,
Grupo ABC S.A. need to think about the capacity in project management to be successful in its
medium and long term goals.
This project goal is to help the company for establishing an organizational project
management culture. Through the adequate project management maturity model for the
organization, it could be possible to determine the maturity level for Grupo ABC SA., by
comparing the findings with strengths and weakness analysis in PMBoK®’s best practices.
Finally, the project recommends an improvement plan to move towards increasing levels of
maturity.
The diagnosis determines how maturity level reflex the company project management is
formally structured, the level of processes standardization and the advance about PMBoK®’s
best practices implementation. Through identifying gaps, it is possible define courses of action to
improve the efficiency and performance for projects.
The results of both analyses indicate the starting point for defining the scope and content
of the proposed improvement plan. The plan seeks to gradually increase the level of
organizational maturity in project management.
The action plan focuses on generating knowledge and create a solid foundation for the
development and standardization of project management best practices in the company, under
the premise of creating competitive advantage for business growth and sustainability at mid and
long term. It aims to improve the chance for projects success. As strategy, redirects the course
and how the projects are currently being developed.
The approach to settle the weaknesses and strengthen the positive aspects must be supported by a strategic approach, from an organizational culture of projects to support the

development of efficient, consistent and coherent projects to help fulfill the strategic objectives
of the organization, customer and staff satisfaction; and financial stability of the company.
