It is pertinent to note that the need to prolong the life of equipment and consequently, increase reliability, seeks special care to details such as lubrication. There are many mistakes and oversights associated to the low importance, or lack of it, attached to tribological programs in companies. Failures in this regard seriously affect production and increase costs and waste associated with applied maintenance to correct problems that may arise. The Maintenance Department of RECOPE, specifically, in the campus El Alto, looks after the welfare of all equipment. Due to the responsibility that this department has, it develops a process of lubrication to improve its plan of preventive and predictive maintenance. What is proposed here, is the analysis and diagnosis of the current lubrication program and then, through different channels of information, reach a number of conclusions that will point out improvement opportunities. RECOPE needs to focus on those opportunities. This paper also seeks to chart the way forward for the formal implementation of a process of lubrication, which has a starting point and continue through constant feedback to correct and innovate itself.
