It presents the morphometry and bathymetry of the reservoir “La Mica”, in 2018 (information that will be compared with the data obtained in 2007). To carry out the study, the RiverSurveyor M9 digital echo-sounder in addition of an outboard motor boat, establishing 218 transects by a distance of 20 meters. With the obtained data, the bathymetric and morphometric characterization of the reservoir was carried out, where surface and subsurface parameters were calculated, as well as the instantaneous volume / level equation (with which the volume of water from the La Mica reservoir can be quantified making different water level measurements). Additionally, ArcGis10.3 software was used to execute the bathymetric map. With the data obtained it has been possible to estimate that the La Mica reservoir between this period has not undergone appreciable variations in the surface parameters. However, the total volume decreased by 0.16%, due to the accumulation of sediments over these 11 years. The sediment load coming from the tributaries and from the basin, are transported by the water currents, and are deposited in the central reservoir basin. The opposite occurs with the useful volume, which increased by 0.53% due to an increase in slopes above 3909 m.a.s.l.

Se presenta la morfometría y batimetría del embalse La Mica, en el año 2018 (información que será contrastada con datos del año 2007), ubicado al sur-este de Quito. Para el levantamiento batimétrico se utilizó la ecosonda River Surveyor M9 además de una lancha a motor y se establecieron 218 transectos paralelos al dique, con una separación de 20m. Con los datos obtenidos se procede a realizar la caracterización batimétrica y morfométrica del embalse, se calcularon parámetros superficiales y subsuperficiales, además de la ecuación volumen/nivel instantáneo (ecuación que sirve para cuantificar el volumen de agua útil en el embalse). Adicionalmente, para obtener el mapa batimétrico se utilizó ArcGis10.3. Con los datos obtenidos se estimó que La Mica entre 2007 y 2018 no ha sufrido variaciones apreciables en los parámetros superficiales. Sin embargo, el volumen total disminuyó un 0,16%, producto de la acumulación de sedimentos en el fondo a lo largo de este periodo. Los sedimentos provenientes de los tributarios y la cuenca, son transportados por corrientes de agua y se depositan en la cubeta central del reservorio. Ocurre lo contrario con el volumen útil, el cual aumentó en un 0,53% a causa de un aumento de pendientes sobre los 3909 m.s.n.m.
