This project was developed in the UEN Agregados Constructora Meco S.A., which is responsible for producing and marketing quality aggregates. The main objective of the study is to make the strategy proposal for improvement of the maintenance management of UEN Agregados Costa Rica, by designing a maintenance plan for families of critical equipment in the crushing process. The analysis of the current situation shows that 32% of the total time of downtime is because of maintenance and costs are reported for corrective actions around billion colones since January to Julie, representing the categories TR56 and TR54 a 62% of those costs, the last one consists of a cone crusher, a screen and between 3 or 4 conveyor belts, these comprise the most important equipment for the crushing process. Knowing the equipment involved, a detailed study of the production needs based on the MTA methodology is performed to define the preventive activities. Sales strategies of the project are made based on a detailed study of the cost of implementing the project and the benefits it will bring to the company. To measure the performance of the project it defines technical indicators that show relevant information to the maintenance department and help in the process of continuous improvement. The proposal is expected to achieve the preventive maintenance implementation plan and promote an organizational culture inclined to prevention, with the goal of reducing the percentage of downtime for maintenance by 7%.
