Diagnóstico de vías de la red vial pavimentada del cantón de Alajuela como parte de un sistema de gestión de pavimentos

2014

Proyecto de Graduación (Licenciatura en Ingeniería en Construcción) Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica. Escuela de Ingeniería en Construcción, 2014.

This work consists of diagnostic of the service condition of three roads of Alajuela as part of a pavement management system. It starts with an inventory of existing elements in each road, considering the location and condition thereof. Furthermore, a database with georeferenced points on QuantumGIS program is created. Using the procedure established by the ASTM D-6433 standards, an auscultation study is performed and the pavement condition index (PCI) on each of the roads is determined in two different two ways: one is using a certain amount of random samples and the other is evaluating all the section. The PCI results do not differ significantly between the two methodologies. It is concluded that the three roads have a deficient drainage system, lack of signage and sidewalks. According to the obtained PCI, El Pasito Primary Street has poor pavement and the connector road between Rosales-Cootaxa serious. The connector road between Pueblo Nuevo-Barrio San José was necessary to be divided it into three sections; the first one has a poor pavement, the second one good and the third one serious. It is necessary to work on these roads through the restoration of the sections with conditions among poor and failed.
